Curiosity meets practical work.

From configuring services to troubleshooting hardware, I enjoy understanding how the pieces fit together.

I'm currently completing an ICT-Fachmann EFZ apprenticeship, with interests in systems administration, networking and infrastructure. My work combines IT support experience with personal projects that I build, maintain and improve over time.

Outside my apprenticeship, I've repurposed older hardware into a Debian-based home NAS, worked with virtual machines and Linux services, explored self-hosted websites, and built a compact Raspberry Pi video display. Each project is an opportunity to learn the details, not just follow a tutorial.

My approach: understand the problem, test methodically, document what works, and keep improving the system.

Home NAS & storage infrastructure

Repurposed an older desktop into a headless Debian 13 NAS with persistent Samba file shares. Built a practical multi-drive setup, added controlled unlocking of encrypted storage, and enabled convenient access from Windows and Android devices.

What I implemented

Mapped SMB file shares for desktop and mobile clients.

Configured persistent mounts and separate drives for everyday and encrypted storage.

Added safe unlock/mount workflows for a VeraCrypt-protected drive.

Used Cockpit/Webmin, SMART data and drive-temperature monitoring for management and diagnostics.

PROJECT / 02FEATURED · SELF-HOSTING

Web hosting from my own hardware

Built and tested a public-facing website on a Debian PC: Apache virtual hosts, HTML/CSS, key-based SSH, VS Code Remote SSH, and HTTPS exposure through Tailscale Funnel without router port forwarding. Also experimented with Cloudflare Quick Tunnel.

From local to public

Set up a static LAN address, Apache sites and a local web test environment.

Configured SSH administration and remote file editing from Windows.

Published a test site through a persistent Tailscale Funnel HTTPS URL.

Tested browser-based video delivery and different public tunnel approaches.

Prepared a structured multi-department workstation changeover plan, tracking hardware tasks, responsibilities and telephone/LAN socket mappings to help avoid reconnection errors.

Created and deployed this responsive portfolio on Netlify, then connected a separately registered .ch domain through DNS records, domain verification and HTTPS.

Built an enterprise-style lab environment with Windows and Linux systems, directory services, DNS/DHCP, file sharing and domain-joined clients to practise real infrastructure workflows.
